When we were very young, we accepted the world at face value. We had no body of experience with which to judge what happened to us or around us. But over the years we grew - first with curiosity, then with urgency. We gained in awareness and the more we knew, the more we needed to know.

We grew out of being illiterate into (for most of us) a literacy that enhanced our understanding of many conditions of humankind.

Each day that passes gives us a blessed opportunity to gain new skills and practice new talents.
